Away We Go! Guatemala Here We Come!

Marlowe and I are off to Guatemala today! I am so so so excited! Every time someone says something about the number of trips planned for this summer, I respond, "just making up for last summer!" and it's true! I totally am. We'll be traveling with my friend Celia and her daughter Luna. I think it'll make the perfect team. And with Luna being a few years older than Marlowe, I think she'll be a big help in entertaining Marlowe... well, I think they'll both keep each other pretty entertained ;) I love to see those two play-- even with a six year age gap, they have so much fun together :) And for me, I'm excited to travel with someone who can take photos! What a treat, man! And Celia is excited to travel with someone who (painfully and awkwardly wants to take photos) haha. I'm not sure how the internet will be for us there, but you can def. follow Celia on instagram and snapchat too: @celiadluna. And I'm obviously on both of those too. I'll assume you already follow, but if you don't and you want to, I'm @ohdeardrea on both (duh).

Have you ever asked yourself the question, "if you had to choose between staying cozy at home for the rest of your life or traveling for the rest of your life, which would you choose?" I love our home so much, it's so wonderful, I've written about the benefits of making your house a home-- and staying put there, but man, I would so definitely choose to travel. I think Marlowe and Alex might too. Marlowe is funny though, she actually really likes travel too-- and gets super excited anytime I talk about going anywhere, but when we are home, she doesn't want to leave the house! I'm a little bit like that too--- depending on the weather and whats going on. But we both seem to waiver between 'travel adventure ladies' and 'extreme hermits' haha.

But yeah, I just want to go everywhere, I want to soak up as much of this world as I can. I'm constantly fearing the state of the earth. The GMO and pesticide crisis we're in, the water issues, the climate warnings, the struggling (real) farmers. And it feels like nothing I can do will ever be enough. And to be quite honest, I've worried and felt that way my whole life. Not about food security, but about the Earth for sure (though, now, as an adult, I see how those go hand in hand). I guess for me, traveling is a way for me to be part of that and release from that somehow. I'm not sure if that makes a lot of sense, but that's okay.

I have a good list of places to visit on this trip. Marlowe is most excited for the chocolate aspect of Guatemala (who can blame her). We can grow cacao in parts of Florida here, but we certainly don't farm and produce it. I'm most excited for the organic farms on my list! And so many of them have restaurants too. I cannot wait. The house we rented is stunning too! A serious dream house.

Speaking of dreams, Celia had this dream that I was living in Guatemala, creating trips, and people would fly in to stay/explore with us and I would cook big meals everyday for the people visiting. I think thats how the dream went.... thats how I translated her foggy dream in my head anyway. It sounds like all my life dreams rolled into one, really. Except, well, I need more baby goats around me too.

I'm not sure what the future holds, but for now, I'm super excited to get on a plane and head to Guatemala. I keep saying it to Celia (and my mom has actually randomly said it to me), but lately everything feels like the start of something new. And it's so so good.
