Happy friday, friends! How are you? I'm typing on my brand new computer-- like, it just came out of the box a few hours ago. I can't tell you the last time I had a desk top-- well, I can, it was about 10 years ago. So big, so weird. I'm learning how to use a mouse again ;)
ANYWAY! Today (thursday) was such a great and easy day. It was Alex's birthday, but he had to work, so we spent the morning doing what he wanted--- working hard in the yard! We're changing up our space-- the garden beds will stay the same (they need work though, see the giant tomato bush jungle?!). And the pergola is going through a little makeover again (see last fun update HERE). I'm excited for it, I think it'll look nice--- I want it to be more of a relaxing space, like our front porch. We tied about 15-20 (?) orchids to the pergola. SO FUN. The weather has been so perfect this spring. I think I'll seriously cry when it heats up again. It's been so good to get outside and sit in the breeze! Marlowe and I get outside now about 9 days out of 10--- mostly in the front yard, but lately in the back for her to help out with garden and chicken stuff too :)
We emptied out one of our garden beds lately (have to empty out another one too) and I figured it would be fun to get the little cousins over for some dirt time. Yeah, theres lots of bugs and junk in the dirt, but man the dirt is good for you too. All those happy microbes to give us life and immune health ;)
make the donuts plant the kale.
Also, you can't tell in this picture, but all three girls are wearing tide (marlowe's pant are indigo dyed)-- and it was completely unplanned. What a crunchy family we are ;) Marlowe is such a big helper with these two. It's so sweet. She dresses them up, guides them, reads books to them, and now shows Trudy how to garden :) It's so good!
tomato jungle--- and this was the smaller jungle-- you should have seen the side yard!
And a sweet kale blazer drink for the gardeners. Marlowe lives off vegetables, Trudy not so much, but both can drink up a veggie + fruit juice ;) Loaded with kale (duh), cucumber, spinach, celery, ginger, and fruits too. Did you know kale is one of the worlds richest sources of vitamin K? And calorie per calorie kale has more iron than beef and more calcium than milk--- go get those greens!
I teamed up with Naked Juice to wish you guys a happy earth day and talk about the sustainability efforts Naked Juice is putting forth in their products. 100% post recycled products. A LEED-certified bottling facility. And Naked Juice is the only nationally distributed juice company to use 100% rPET to keep turning bottles in bottles again and again ;) And Kale Blazer, along with 26 other Naked Juice drinks are non-GMO project verified.
Anyway, whether you're loving kale or hating kale, eating it or drinking it-- I hope you guys get out there this weekend and enjoy this earth! Lay in your backyard, go to a farmers market, plant a garden--- it doesn't have to be much-- even a few pots of herbs and plants is better than nothing! DO ITTTT, it's good!

Alright friends! I hope you have a wonderful friday! It's my nieces birthday-- that middle girly in the photos-- and Alex has the day off so we're going to go out to dinner and celebrate! I MIGHT get crazy and have a drink--- though that one glass of wine I had last week really did me in ;) Have a wonderful weekend, friends!
