I know I say thank you in just about every post, but I mean it every time. I'm grateful for you guys. This year was not at all how I expected it would be. This was supposed to be my easy year-- my fun travel year, but you know, life happens and I'm just trying to flow with it as much as I can. So many of you have reached out to me--- in emails, in comments, in private messages, all of it. And I can't say thank you enough. I am lucky enough get a lot of thank you's from this space on any and every day, but the amount of kind words that flowed in in this hard time has been incomparable. Many thoughts and prayers have been very personal-- but many can fit in a lot of situations--- in many different hard or sad times. I wanted to share those here.
A collection of happy thoughts.
From different places, different religions, from poets, from friends, from the heart.
Thank you guys endlessly. Whether you're going through a tough time right now or if you're just breezing by, I hope you enjoy these positive words as much as I have.
Also, if you're interested, I'm hoping to share more, at least weekly, on instagram. I thought it would feel really wonderful to have a place to put together words that touched us or things we are grateful for to share and inspire. I'm hoping to make #ohdearhappythoughts a place to go when you're feeling down or just want to find a little hope. We can all use a little positive inspiration, every day-- and I'd like to share more of your (and my) inspirational thoughts more. If you feel inclined, please don't hesitate to share your happy thoughts too. Thank you for sharing these.
Stay strong, you are worth it.
Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.
And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.
The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.
Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven?
And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives?
When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.
When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.
Some of you say, "Joy is greater than sorrow," and others say, "Nay, sorrow is the greater."
But I say unto you, they are inseparable.
Together they come, and when one sits, alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.
Verily you are suspended like scales between your sorrow and your joy.
Only when you are empty are you at standstill and balanced.
When the treasure-keeper lifts you to weigh his gold and his silver, needs must your joy or your sorrow rise or fall. -Khalil Gibran's "The Prophet"
"It always seems impossible until it's done." - Nelson Mandela
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers." -- 3 John 1:2
"I sing because the moment exists and my life is complete"
"the wound is where the light enters" -Gabby Bernstein
Pray to the universe, meditate, relax, let go, and love.
Enjoy the little things that make you happy.
We often go through difficult trials in life, but always come out stronger on the other side.
I just want the universe to envelop you with love and soothe you, soothe you. Heal you.
"Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer." -Rilke
I hope you guys are having a great week. Thank you for being here and part of my everyday life.
