Hello! I've had a few emails, comments, and texts in the past few days about an error or passcode protected warning popping up for readers.... it should hopefully (please please) be fixed now! If it's not, or even if it is, I'd suggest maybe popping over to bloglovin' and following us over there! With google reader shutting down in the near future, it might be a good (and fun) move anyway! And I'm almost certain, no warning pop ups will be showing up over there :)
Either way, I'm going to try to take a few moments this week to make tiny tweaks here and there on the blog. I won't be changing the beautiful design logo's Sarah drew for me or anything, they are far to perfect and fitting, but just trying to line things up and clean up space a tiny bit... but I'm in no way a HTML expert, so we'll see how it goes. If things seem wonky, you can blame me. If you've had any problems with the site or just have any recommendations on how to improve it, please do let me know! Feedback is always appreciated and helpful.
In the meantime, here's some links and random thoughts :)
I'm going to try to keep updating the vegan beauty recommendation page a bit :) And the FAQ page. The two most asked questions recently have been "Alex, are you two back together?" Yes. And: "Bread recipe, will you (or Alex) post it?" No. Sorry! I don't have a recipe... and neither does Alex really. I mean, he has a method that he's been working on for years. And he has a sourdough starter that he's also been working on... for a long time... it's a tiny bit older than Marlowe. He started it in New York and brought all the way back with him when he moved came back to Florida. Those two things combined with a lot of reading, learning, and trial and error have created his yummy bread.
But I can recommend some books for your home bread baking: My Bread, Tartine Bread, or Flour Water Salt Yeast. All of them are simple enough for even the most novice baker--- I could probably even make a loaf myself, but you know, I'll never need to ;)
Bread is love around here (well, food in general). I mean, I did bring back two whole loaves of Tartine bread for Alex on my stop over in California (Miss you Nicolle!). Who does that? It reminds me that soon I'll be lying around, reading this book on the sandy beaches of Mexico. A seemingly very fitting book for my life... or any life with a foodie relationship involved. Only a month and a week or so until our Tulum vacation. We booked an apartment via AirBnB, I'll let you know how that goes! Also, maybe a stretch, but Tulum travel recommendations or even just beach book reads are greatly recommended :)
Green soup! M's new favorite around here. This soup, no garbanzo beans. With a head of broccoli and a handful or two of spinach... and sometimes, when it's kicking around the house and needs to be used: zucchini. Soup makes sense in this house with so much bread.
Here's pretty good natural stuff link post, featuring my own favorite homemade deodorant. I still love this stuff and use it daily. A few people asked if the oil stains your clothes, it doesn't, if you do it correctly. Put it on and wait a few minutes before putting on your clothes, and your body heat will dissolve the oil :)
I also finally took the plunge (I had been debating for-ev-er) and bought the clairsonic. It's been about a week or so, and just like it said it would, my skin is breaking out, but it's new pimples-- different ones-- and my skin does look different, better, and more glowy. I'm hoping for the clear up to happen sooner rather than later. I haven't used any of the soap products it comes with--- because it doesn't look like something I'd use on my skin, but scrubbing off old skin, to reveal the new? I like.
If things are ever slow or quiet over here (or just plain boring), it's because we're busy trying to make big and small dreams happen. We're ever so slowly trying to find the courage to take big jumps and build bigger, but humbling plans. And I'm trying to figure out when, where, how, and if, a cookbook still fits into my space. We're always living first while I'm (not always successfully) trying to remember to snap photos and record thoughts along the way. The computer stays closed much, if not all the time. It opens for a quick uploading of photos and rambling of thoughts. And periodically, to respond to all the love, support, questions, and a fair amount of opportunities that flow in. While this blog can generate a bit of income, I don't look at this place as an expanding business. What it has grown into, has come organically without force, pressure, and extra work. I look at this place as a space of love. I love this blog, this space, and especially this community so very much--- it's what keeps me here. I have friends and support here. Thanks for bringing your positivity into my space and into my life. If more people come, welcome, I'm glad you found us. My home is your home.
I'm looking forward to this weekend. We'll have a small goodbye brunch for my mom on saturday and a fun beach (weather permitting) party with friends on Sunday.
&if you'd like and if you get a chance, don't forget to find us bloglovin' :)
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
