What Marlowe Eats

Untitled
sautéed cabbage, mushrooms, zucchini, chickpeas, and peas in noodles with an avocado-mayo--ginger-garlic sauce.  (I was surprised by this too. I had no idea what I was making, but it all came together pretty well.)
Untitled
tings(delicious vegan addiction), dried goji berries, raisins.
Untitled
onion, zucchini, potato, chickpeas cooked in paprika and tomato paste, mixed with leftover tofu scramble
Untitled
homemade tofu-vegetable dumplings, with a mayo sesame oil dipping sauce.

and because this post is fully packed... feel free to pass or click the link to continue on to more pictures of kiddo food ;)

Untitled
chickpea patties, mashed potatoes, red quinoa with peas, brussels sprouts... she was funny about these... ate about fifteen of them while we were cooking, but wouldn't eat them once they were on her plate. (so happy she finally likes mashed potatoes!)
Untitled
baked tofu nuggets with the leftover potatoes and quinoa.... these were more for me, since she prefers her tofu steamed and plain. heh.
Untitled
carrot soup and our first time making foccacia bread together ;)
Untitled
pita pockets three ways: "cheese", "cheese" and tomato sauce, "cheese" and pesto.
Untitled
cooked black bean, pinto bean, mushroom, peppers and onions... mixed with whole wheat couscous and avocado.
Untitled
zucchini pancakes with mushroom gravy
Untitled
shells in red sauce, fully packed with veggies (carrots, mushrooms, onions, greens)
Untitled
potato, lentil curry with carrots, and peas, mixed with basmati rice.
Untitled
sweet potato and kale soup mixed with grilled corn, with sourdough of course.
Untitled
same soup, next day, mixed with whole wheat pearl couscous and avocado.
Untitled

    1. whole foods sells it! they sell their 365 brand... and there is one other brand... slightly cheaper, but I forget the name. I usually buy one package a month or so. Great for last minute meals. I'm sure trader joes or whatever other places like that would sell it too :)

    2. Oh that is great. I am going to have to make a trip to the suburbs to go to a Trader Joes. My toddlers are vegetarian with a milk allergy so our options for a quick dinner are limited. I've been looking for vegan ravioli for a while now.

    3. This is good to know! I find it so hard to get vegan ravioli at a decent price (less than $10).

  7. You should write a cookbook!!! Seriously.

  8. Seriously how do you get your child to eat all that? Mine used to eat whatever I put in front of her, but the closer she gets to 2 yrs, the pickier she gets!!

  13. I'm so jealous how well Marlowe eats! We're vegan too (though my 21 month old does eat some vegetarian things occasionally) and I offer her all kinds of things like this, but she's picky. She will eat all the pasta out of her vegetable pasta, and leave all the veg. :/ Can't get her to eat beans either, which is SO frustrating! She loves green beans though, and cucumber but won't touch things like broccoli. Toddlers, eh?!!

    1. Marlowe eats all the sauce and chooses to leave behind the pasta--- I'm exactly this way too though. Some people are pasta people. Some people are sauce people. It's just the way it is ;)

    2. oh also. Marlowe only recently started liking beans. Before I could only do them in patty form. Like, chickpea patties, or black bean ones. Sometimes you just have to mess around with textures and things :)

  14. I just want to second what everyone said about you feeding your daughter so well - and if you ever do publish a cookbook for kids/babies, I would definitely buy it.

  15. I love how well she eats. I'm trying to do this vegan thing and wondering do any of the spices ever hurt her stomach? I'm finding alot of foods to be hard on my 10 month old.

    1. Not so much her stomach--- but she did have a lot of rash problems on her bum. She couldn't really have anything with ginger or anything too acidic, but now at almost two she is pretty good with almost everything. Of course, if I know she is having something I go light on the hotter spices, but I still load things up with cumin, or paprika, or whatever spice I'm using for that dish.

  18. You really need to work on writing a cookbook for vegan/vegetarian kids.
I was going to a while back, but I have so many food allergies including nuts and several vegetables (esp nightshade family) that I have had to incorporate some meat into my diet to get the necessary protein and to keep from bulking up on soy and other carbs.
Also, do Tings have cheese in them? I think I read the label that they do...but I'm not sure. I can't have any dairy whatsoever.

    1. Tings are completely vegan! Life became instantly better when I discovered them. No dairy. The "cheesiness" is from nutritional yeast. It's even clearly labeled "vegan" :)

  19. Man, you're so culinarily (made up word for the day) creative! I'm NOT a vegan or vegetarian, which obviously gives me an almost endless choice of ingredients for any given meal...and I have trouble coming up with anything new and interesting. Same ol' boring stuff. You have less to choose from and your plate looks like something out of a fancy cookbook, and they're always different! Speaking of cookbook, I'll piggy-back on what the others said...please, create one! I eat meat, but I'll definitely buy it. I'm actually thinking of using Blurb.com to create my own cookbook of family recipes and photos (from my parents and our own recipes) to pass down to my baby when she's older. Blurb also allows you to sell your book through their site. Pretty cool :)

  20. i'm curious about the mayo-dip! do you make it or buy it?
    yummy food!

    1. I don't remember exactly what I blended it there... but it's veganaise, sesame oil, and maybe a touch of soy sauce. For mine, I mixed a bunch of spicy spicy things in there too :)
